My first day of teaching went well. Short of the fact that the computer went on the fritz and I got the "Blue Screen of Death" in the middle of my first lecture - - everything else went fine.
[For those that don't know - the Blue Screen of Death is when the computer flashes once, and then shows you a blue screen with old-style white typewritten words that say something to the extent of "I hope you have this file saved somewhere else because THIS particular version is currently being swallowed into technology oblivion."]
Fortunately, the IT guys were able to salvage my computer, and while they couldn't promise that it wouldn't happen again - they did give me a Blow-pop for my trouble. Yes - the lollipop with a bubble gum center. Apparently that's how you solve problems at a school.
