Poor Allen has a bad case of Second Child Syndrome. The blog never gets updated, the baby book is sitting untouched, and there are a total of about 12 actual pictures of him taken with a real camera and not my iPhone. Poor baby. In an effort to begin to remedy what I'm sure will be some difficult facts to explain when he is older . . .here's a brief update. Seriously brief. I'm exhausted and must get to bed.
Allen turned 3 months old 3 days ago. He is absolutely precious and looking more like a mini-Ben every day. He loves to smile and laugh out loud (it's seriously the cutest sound ever) and he is starting to coo more and more - we have very entertaining conversations cooing back and forth at each other. When he smiles, it's a full-face, eye-twinkle sort of smile. Melts your heart. He has started to intentionally grab things with this little hands and especially loves holding on to my shirt, scarf, necklace, or hair. He loves to be held and actually puts his arms around you (unlike Lola who, to this day, gets carried around like a sack-o-potatoes, making really no effort at all to hold on :)
He is on a pretty standard 3 hour schedule during the day, and while we have struggled quite a bit with the nighttime, I think we may finally be turning a corner (more on that later - don't want to jinx things for now.)
He loves getting his bath, taking catnaps in his swing, playing on his playmat, and watching Lola whenever she is in the room. He seems fascinated by her (aren't we all?) Since cutting out dairy, we have resolved most of his stomach issues and he is a much more happy and content baby. It is a night and day difference! And while I do miss the dairy (a lot. I miss it so very much.) it has helped me lose some of the baby weight since it turns out that pretty much everything dairy that I ate was loaded with fat.
We are so very much in love with this little man and we are so very lucky to have him in our lives.
