It does wonders for fine lines

I'm cleaning my room. I hear rustling in Lola's bathroom and the stool being dragged across the floor. Then silence.

Me: "Lola sweetie, are you ok?"
Her: "Yeah, I'm just putting some cream on my face"

Cream? Where did she get cream from? I go to investigate.

Not cream. Toothpaste. I had bought a new tube that looked different from what she was used to. On the plus side, her skin looks magnificent.

Allen stats

Allen had his 4 month check up this week. No surprise to anyone, he was in the 98th percentile for both height and weight. (He is wearing 12 mo. clothing!) Everything else looks great. We are starting a topical cream to help with eczema (which drove me crazy when Lola had it, but I find it suiting and masculine on Allen - how weird am I?).
He is finally down to waking just once a night (usually, last night he ate twice) which was quite the struggle. He is such a little cuddle bug and loves to snuggle and hold hands. We are having so much fun with our little man!

Another potty step

Mundane potty update: Lola has been completely out of pull-ups at night for a little over a month now. She had been waking up consistently dry for at least a week so it wasn't too much of a risk.

We are also starting to have her go to the potty by herself in the house. She can do it - we are just building up confidence and getting used to the concept. Best I can tell she already goes by herself at school, at least that's what she tells me.

Lolaism

This morning I asked Lola if we should head downstairs for breakfast. She replied, "I don't see why not."

Man vs. Food

Have you seen this show? Here's our own version: toddler vs. pizza

Meatball pizza from Your Pie on Woodruff Rd. One slice down.

Before I knew it she was eating the second half!

Still going strong!

She took a break. For ice cream.

And then went BACK for the last slice.

In the end, she was bested by half of a slice. Unreal.

This weekend

Wonderful weekend at home with Ben! The kids did a little skyping.

We made blueberry smoothies (with pink sparkle rims).

And went on a family walk.

I should mention...

After pointing out Ben's spelling deficiency, I should take this opportunity to mention that, other than the spelling thing and an inability to purchase rational amounts of Halloween candy, the man has pretty much no other flaws. He is an amazing husband, the most wonderful father, and probably the smartest person I know. I am forever in awe of him, misspellings and all.

Humility

Although typically a pretty good player, I just got beat in Words With Friends by my husband, a man who once wrote me an email that said, "the card is in my top desk droor".

Stairway to Heaven

Lola: (screaming from upstairs) Maahhmy, come upstairs.

Me: I can't right now, sweetie, I'm feeding Allen.

Lola: Maaaahhhmy, please come upstairs.

Me: Good manners, honey, but I can't come up until I'm finished feeding Allen.

(2 minute pause)

Lola: Maaaahhhmy, you better come up, I'm up here getting in trouble.

Substitute Pancakes

Our official pancake chef was on-call this weekend - so mommy had to step up her breakfast game (beyond cereal and milk) and whip up a batch in daddy's absence. And yes, that is chocolate on her cheek at 8:30 am.

A lesson in equality

Whenever we use any sort of drive-thru window, Lola is strangely curious whether the person is a boy or a girl (not sure why she cares more at a drive-thru than in any other situation). It's not a big deal really, she hollers from the backseat, "is it a boy or is it a girl?" And I smile at the employer and tell her, "it's a girl."

"What's her name?" Is this next question. No biggie - I usually just look at the person's name tag. Most drive-thru employees find the whole thing sort of amusing.

And now, a new one: "does she have black skin or white skin?" This is going to get interesting.
