Death, Taxes, and other Certainties

They say the only things certain in life are death and taxes.  Here's a few more that I'm pretty confident in.

1.  If I need to be somewhere after Lola's nap (doctors appointment, playdate, really anything that involves a set start time), she will sleep on and on and on - inevitably causing us to be rushing out the door in a frenzy or (more likely) late.

2.  If I have a migraine, got no sleep the previous night, am sick, or need a mid-day snooze for any reason, she will not nap at all.  Or maybe sleep for 45 minutes, but that's it.  This certainty also applies to days in which I have a lot of paperwork to complete, or any other project that might directly benefit me.

3.  If, either during her nap or in the morning before she wakes up, I decide to sneak in a shower - she will wake up crying and cranky exactly 3 minutes into my shower (approximately when the shampoo hits my hair).

4.  If I say to myself, "there's no way I'm getting in the shower, she'll be up any second," she will, in fact, sleep on for another hour at least. Leaving me twiddling my thumbs and wishing I would have bathed.  However, if I do decide to cut my losses and jump in the shower at any point, Certainty Number 3 will apply.
