Alfalfa

Sorry I've been slack in posting. 1 year olds have a tendency to suck time out of the day.

Weekend in a Nutshell

Ben was on call this weekend and it was a doozy.  He had to work late into the afternoon both weekend days and return to the hospital every night at some point.  We did have some nice family time when he was home.  Mostly just hanging around the house and watching Lola amuse herself and us.

Saturday Lola and I attended a birthday party for our friend Emma at Monkey Joe's, a children's play place with inflatable slides and bouncing things (I did the best I could to explain that.).  We also met the Hollenbeck's out for dinner at this great little hole-in-the-wall burger joint (delicious).  It's crazy to see how old all the kids in the program are getting.  Emma wasn't even born when we moved to Greenville and Blake and Dane were just wee-bits.

Today we met some friends downtown to feed the ducks and enjoy (to our surprise) a downtown celebration of Irish culture - complete with parade, balloons, music, and bagpipes.  Lola loves the ducks and hates the pigeons.  How she has managed to distinguish between the two is amazing to me - but she definitely knows.  There were also plenty of dogs there - an obsession of hers (thanks for the gene, Aunt Daynie!).

I tutored a student in Chemistry while Lola napped today and somehow managed to do the taxes, keep the house clean and do the laundry in intervals throughout the weekend.  Overall, productive.  But still much more to do.

Tacos and Pizza. . . and seafood.

I couldn't get a picture of this . . . so use your imagination.

There is a Taco Bell/Pizza Hut nearby Lola's daycare.  Already, the thought of two fast food chains melded into one creeps me out a bit.  Don't get me wrong; I love me some Taco Bell.  And I don't think Pizza Hut is half bad either, but there is something about doing two very different things that leads to me assume you are not doing either one particularly well.  (Anyone that lived in the Emory area around 2003ish and remembers the Falafel King slash Sushi restaurant in the Village can attest to this theory).

Anyhow, the point is this - on the board underneath the sign for both chains (where they can advertise specials and deals) it reads:  "Grilled Pacific Shrimp".  And for the life of me I can't venture a guess as to WHICH of the two restaurants is offering this menu item. I'm not interested either way.
