Ruta-what-a-baga?
I don't even know what a rutabaga is. But it looks a little too much like a turnip - and that was 8 weeks ago!!

Somebody call the electrician - stat.
There is a "lingerie and novelty" shop a few miles from our house called "Nichole's" with a bright pink neon sign outside, complete with the outline of puckered lips where the "O" should be. Special.
Recently, several of the neon lights burned out, leaving the sign above the aforementioned local sex shop to read "HOLES".
Even more special.

Giving Thanks
We had such a wonderful Thanksgiving! We flew up to CT to visit Husband's parents, as well as sister-from-another-mister and brother-from-another-mother (aka in-laws). We ate. And ate. And then ate some more. Turkey, stuffing, pie, cranberries, and of course - homemade apple pancakes for breakfast. It was a true test of gluttony and self-indulgence, and I'd say I did pretty well. The nurse at my doctor's appt. was pleased that I put on 5 pounds over the course of 5 weeks - little does she know that it was likely 1 pound over 4 weeks and then 4 pounds over 3 days.
Everything is well in terms of baby-marinating. All numbers looked good at appt. this morning and I continue to grow by the day. We are so thankful to have had such an uneventful pregnancy so far and are keeping fingers (and toes) crossed for much of the same in the coming weeks. Husband's 30th birthday is this week and we are celebrating with a night of call at the hospital. No worries though, big birthday dinner plans for Friday night (shhh . . don't tell. And don't worry . . . he doesn't read the blog :)

I Dream of [Diaper] Genie
I went to Babies R Us yesterday to start the baby registry process. There were a few things that I had read up about and I wanted to get things started. I spent about 2 hours in the store and I felt good when I left. But last night, I had dreams. All night. Dreams about whether our baby would like the waterfall sounds on the rainforest bouncer. Would she be afraid of the monkeys on the jumparoo? Will she drink from the bottles? What if the snaps on the onesies irritate her skin?
I suppose this is my official welcome to motherhood.

Historical Accuracy
What are the chances that the 24th week, the week of Thanksgiving - would be an ear of corn?! The only thing more appropriate would be a turkey! (I do have to agree with sister - recently the foods seem to be getting smaller as the weeks go by . . . )

Things I Don't Recommend
As inspired by my seester
I wouldn't have normally made mention of this, but since seester recently found herself on the wrong side of "cake-in-a-mug," I suppose there is a market for stories about gross chocolate items in cups. Here's mine:
I wanted to make hot chocolate. And I have some killer hot cocoa mix that Husband bought for me stashed away in the pantry. The problem? The mix specifically calls for milk, and we didn't have any. So I used the Laws of Reversibility . . . The cheap-o hot chocolate mix calls for water, and sometimes I use milk - with fantastic results. Ergo, even though the fancy mix calls for milk, I can use water and all will be good.
Not so. I ended up with hot brown water, that did not taste even mildly like chocolate. It was so gross I was only able to take a sip. And then another. And then 2 more.

Mangos!
Five years ago, on a family trip to Ft. Lauderdale, my dad convinced us to go to a restaurant (read: BAR) called Mango's. We drank frosty alcoholic beverages and watched people dance on the tables in clothing that failed to cover any substantial portion of their bodies. It was great family fun for everyone. During this, the 23rd week of pregnancy, in honor of our unborn (mango-sized) baby, I am finally going to put that horrifying night behind me.
