Unintended benefit of becoming a parent: I'm so used to packing for every contingency for the kids - that my own needs have become quite streamlined. Without the kids, I literally need a toothbrush, a stick of deodorant, and an eye liner to go away for any amount of time.

A long long time ago
(Preface: Hannukah is coming up, which means we have been reading a lot of Hannukah books, which means Lola has also been asking to read books about Passover, because hey - why not?)
Lola: sometimes I wonder about meteors hitting the earth
Me: you don't have to worry about that sweetie. The meteors have organized into a particular place in space and they stay there (sometimes, I make up science). A meteor hasn't hit the earth for millions and millions of years - when the dinosaurs lived. That was a very very very long time ago.

Hotels
In her defense - Ben and I have had to travel for 2 different interviews this month and told her we were staying in hotels. For those of you afraid of what we were letting her watch on television.

Role play
Tonight Lola put on her dress-up high heels and told me she was playing "mommy and daddy". She then made me the babysitter, Allen the baby, and Ben the daddy, and told us that the mommy and the daddy were going on a date. To a hotel. Obviously modeling her behavior after someone ELSE'S mommy and daddy.
