America's pastime

Me: Lola, we'll have to think about what activity you want to do this year on a day when you're not at school. Maybe a music class, or gymnastics, or dance or something.

Lola: (thinks for a second). Baseball?

Me: (Through out-loud-laughter, because I know my child, and half the genes in her tiny body are mine). I think baseball is more of a summer sport, sweetie, but we can definitely check it out.

You cannot truly appreciate how bad a skunk smells until one bites the bullet outside your kitchen window.

My little camper

She is loving camp at the JCC up here. Insists on wearing her backpack to breakfast on camp days. And yes, those are boxes to still be unpacked in the background!

My thoughtful waitress

Lola asked me how I wanted my eggs cooked. I told her I'd like an omelette with cheese and veggies. I'd say she nailed it.

Seriously CT?

This is total B.S.

If I wanted to sweat my tuches off in 106 degree heat with 90% humidity - I would have stayed in South Carolina!

West Hartford / Greenville

West Hartford has an 8 PAGE booklet to review the rules and regulations of trash pick up. All the trash has to fit inside the bin. Permits are required for bulk pick up. Cans have to be facing the right direction and trash must be 2 feet away from recycling. There are time limits to how long the trash bins can be out.

In Greenville - you just put all your shit on the curb and it was gone by morning. I know for a fact that many of our things were picked up by people OTHER than our garbage crew. We once put a couch on the curb and I kid you not it was gone in less than 3 hours.

It's the little things I miss.
