We are in our new house in West Hartford, CT! The kids and I arrived last Wednesday with my parents in tow (thank heavens!) and I couldn't have done it without them. Our new house is an adorable blue one-story house that feels about half the size of our Greenville house. We are making it work thanks to bountiful storage in Papa and Rivi's basement (thank heavens!) Right now Allen and sleeping in his new room/guest room and the Ben and Lola have escaped to Ridgefield so that Ben can do some board studying and Lola can play with Rivi and Papa. They have access to clean bathrooms, home cooked meals, and central air - I'm a little concerned they are never coming back!! (Seriously, they were only staying one night and that has already turned into two . . . )
The town of West Hartford is precious. Just like Greenville, it's WAY more than you would expect. West Hartford center is an adorable town square with tons of boutique shops and local restaurants (think Virginia-Highlands in Atlanta), and there is a strip on the other side of our house with all the big-box stores and a mall (think Woodruff Rd. in Greenville). Everyone is super friendly (almost surprisingly so) - neighbors stopping by, store clerks making conversation, random customers asking my opinion about diapers.
Our house is wonderful and lacks only 2 minor things . . .about 1000 extra square feet and central air. (Ok, 2 pretty major things). The central air wouldn't be that big of an issue if we hadn't moved here during one of the worst heat waves. It's been above 90 every day! And without a central HVAC unit to pull the humidity out of the air - pretty much everything in the house has a slightly damp feel to it. On the plus side - we have a GROCERY DELIVERY SERVICE!! This has already revolutionized my life.
Allen just woke up - so this update will be cut short. More to come soon . . .
