Humility

Although typically a pretty good player, I just got beat in Words With Friends by my husband, a man who once wrote me an email that said, "the card is in my top desk droor".

Stairway to Heaven

Lola: (screaming from upstairs) Maahhmy, come upstairs.

Me: I can't right now, sweetie, I'm feeding Allen.

Lola: Maaaahhhmy, please come upstairs.

Me: Good manners, honey, but I can't come up until I'm finished feeding Allen.

(2 minute pause)

Lola: Maaaahhhmy, you better come up, I'm up here getting in trouble.

As Cousin Ollie would say, "Mind Blown".

Substitute Pancakes

Our official pancake chef was on-call this weekend - so mommy had to step up her breakfast game (beyond cereal and milk) and whip up a batch in daddy's absence. And yes, that is chocolate on her cheek at 8:30 am.

A lesson in equality

Whenever we use any sort of drive-thru window, Lola is strangely curious whether the person is a boy or a girl (not sure why she cares more at a drive-thru than in any other situation). It's not a big deal really, she hollers from the backseat, "is it a boy or is it a girl?" And I smile at the employer and tell her, "it's a girl."

"What's her name?" Is this next question. No biggie - I usually just look at the person's name tag. Most drive-thru employees find the whole thing sort of amusing.

And now, a new one: "does she have black skin or white skin?" This is going to get interesting.
