Demonstrating her skills on the Dinosaur that Great-Grammy and Big Poppy gave to her. Also . . . listen carefully and you'll hear her favorite word, "uh oh."

STEPS!
Yesterday Lola took her first steps! She was seeming much more stable on her feet when I set her down to play so I got her standing on the hardwoods and slowly let go (imagine a very intense game of Jenga). Once she was standing, I stood a few feet in front of her and she step, step, stepped into my arms. She has done the thing where she sort of falls forward in the past - this was different - this was definitely steps :) I know everyone says that once they start walking your whole world changes. . . but it is a pretty exciting milestone nonetheless.

Pathetically adorable
Lola-bean seems to have come down with a bug. She had a pretty high fever yesterday and is clearly still fighting off whatever it is today. While we hate that she's under the weather, we can't help but secretly enjoy that she is much more affectionate and cuddly when she doesn't feel well. As she is not a big hugger traditionally (wonder where she gets that from?) it is so sweet to have her snuggle up to us and bury her head in our necks and chests. Sweet, pure, love. With a extra dose of motrin.
Reminiscing
The public bathroom at Lola's daycare smells EXACTLY like the bathrooms at the Epstein School. A year ago I could never have recalled what the Epstein bathrooms smelled like (I don't think I've stepped foot in the building since 1998). For that matter, I still can't describe it. All I know is that every time I have to use the bathroom at daycare that smell comes rushing back to me. It may be the cinder block walls, or the industrial paint, or a certain combination of cleaners and old-building-smell. But there I am; in Hebrew School. The problem is - no one in Greenville can confirm the smell. So my message is this: Mindy - get your butt to Greenville so I can prove I'm not crazy.
